It focuses on, and partly fictionalizes, the efforts of John Adams to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence and to sign the document. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1969, winning three Tony Awards. It was made into a film of the same name in 1972 and enjoyed a Broadway revival in 1997. It continues to be a favorite of audiences everywhere.??

It focuses on romantic lead Don Lockwood, his sidekick Cosmo Brown, aspiring actress Kathy Selden and Lockwood's leading lady, Lina Lamont, whose less-than-dulcet vocal tones make her an unlikely candidate for stardom in talking pictures. ?Singin? in the Rain??is based on the smash hit 1952 movie starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and other celebrated actors of the time.
